Delete your account
OrdLens · Last updated: 11 October 2026
You can delete your OrdLens account at any time. Deleting your account permanently removes your saved words from our server and from the device you delete it on.
There is no way to undo this, and no backup we can restore from. If you want to keep your words, use Settings → Export backup first — that saves a file to your device that you can import again later.
Delete it in the app
- Open OrdLens and make sure you are signed in.
- Go to Settings.
- Open the Account section.
- Tap Delete account.
- Confirm. Your account and words are deleted immediately.
If you cannot use the app
If you have uninstalled OrdLens, cannot sign in, or would rather not use the app, email yukunling@gmail.com from the address you signed in with, asking for your account to be deleted.
Because an email address can be forged, we never delete on the strength of one message: we reply to the address on the account and delete only after you confirm from it. Requests are handled within 30 days, and usually much sooner, and we write again once the deletion is done. The email address you write from is used only to find and verify the account, and is not kept afterwards.
What is deleted
- Your account — the record created when you signed in with Google: your email address, and the display name and profile-picture link Google sends with every sign-in.
- All your saved words — every word, translation, example sentence and progress status stored on our server.
- Everything held on the device you delete from, including saved stories, which are only ever stored on your device.
Deletion is immediate and permanent. Nothing of your account or your words is retained after it, and there is no recovery period. (The one exception is the ordinary service logs described below, which contain none of it.)
What this does not cover
- Other devices. Your words are removed from the server straight away, but another phone or computer you were signed in on may keep its own offline copy, which no longer syncs. Uninstalling the app on that device, or clearing its data, removes that copy.
- Your Google account. OrdLens uses Google only to sign you in. Deleting your OrdLens account does not affect your Google account in any way. You can also remove OrdLens's access at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
- Service logs. Our hosting providers keep ordinary technical logs (such as request timestamps) for a short period as part of running the service. These do not contain your saved words.
